About the Program
Homelessness Services Women & Families deliver diverse programs that cater to various needs, including the Young Women’s and Adult Women’s accommodation programs. Additionally, the service provides targeted family support, early intervention through the Women's Early Intervention program, holistic support and housing support for women exiting remand, support for QLD Drug and Alcohol Court participants and comprehensive property and tenancy management for all temporary supported properties.
About the role
We currently have an opportunity for a proactive and enthusiastic Officer - Property & Tenancy to join our team in providing efficient and effective property and tenancy management of the community properties provided under Homelessness Services, Women and Families.
This is a Permanent Full Time Position working 76 hours a fortnight – based at our Toowong Service, with some travel required within the service region.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Authority.
- Capacity to convey complex information to service users from diverse backgrounds.
- Record management experience with an understanding of Human Services quality frameworks.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Collaborative and productive; able to build rapport and develop relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Solutions-focused and self-managing with the ability to work as part of team.
- Competency with Microsoft Office; capacity to learn and use other software and systems.
- An interest in the issues that affect women and families in accessing safe, affordable housing.
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements - Current National Police Check
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Diploma in Tenancy Coordination, Social Housing, Property Management or similar field and/or equivalent practical experience
- Degree in Human Services or other relevant field (desired)
- Ability and willingness to travel within the service region
About You: - Manage property documentation and procedures for properties, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards.
- Conduct regular property inspections and maintain accurate property, asset, and equipment registers.
- Coordinate responsive maintenance, address property maintenance needs, and source new properties as necessary.
- Provide high-quality tenancy support to service users, facilitating tenancy sustainability and addressing rent arrears.
- Prepare and manage tenancy agreements, ensuring service users understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Maintain accurate tenancy and property files and oversee paperwork for QCAT submissions and court attendance.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team, sharing ideas and actively participating in meetings and training.
- Implement quality practices and frameworks that align with the organization’s values of self-determination and social justice.
