Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage. The role:
We are currently seeking a Senior Practitioner on a 12-month Fixed-Term full time basis (maternity leave cover) to join our team based in the Gold Coast and working from our Southport location. Please note that some flexibility is needed in order to meet operational requirements. This is a multi-faceted role providing support in a high volume and high complex risk environment to our clients.
Key Duties:
- Assist the Service Delivery Coordinator to promote Family and Relationship Service activities across the region, including referral pathways.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the Service Agreement/s quality assurance standards and legal obligations of the program
- Undertake the appropriate internal and external networking, planning and development activities.
- Maintain case records and compile statistics clearly and accurately and in a format suitable for supervision and the preparation for reports
- Provide formal monthly line supervision to practitioners in line with the supervision policy
- Undertake the identification of training and development needs for relevant staff.
- Ensure regular compliance with contractual, legal and organisation requirements relating to financial management; risk management; and work health and safety for clients and staff.
- Provide counselling to a diverse range of stakeholders including the provision of crisis counselling and intervention, and group facilitation for children, couples, adults and families.
- Oversee the day-to-day client risk assessment and management procedures for the Family and Relationship team.
- Ensure appropriate access, eligibility and suitability of clients in to the service in liaison with CFRS Intake Practitioners.
- Maintain case records and compile statistics clearly and accurately and in a format suitable for supervision and the preparation for reports.
Skills and Experience: - Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences from a recognised tertiary institution. Eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, or similar recognised professional association.
- Demonstrated applied understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, Family Law Act.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in the principles and practices of contemporary theories and a working knowledge of psychotherapeutic counselling techniques, brief solution focused intervention, trauma informed practice, family systems theory, group theories and dynamics
- Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with family law and child safety; and skills and experience in intake, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
- Well-developed understanding of Domestic and Family Violence, Child Protection and Family Law issues and the impact on families engaged in these systems.
- Demonstrated experience and a well-developed framework for the provision of supervision and day-to-day support for practitioners.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, community stakeholders, management and colleagues
- Well-developed skills and experience in report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry, contractual compliance requirements and computer literacy skills.
Essential requirements for the role: - Current Driver's license.
- Current (or eligibility for) QLD Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Evidence of Australian Work Rights to confirm citizenship or a visa holder.
- Current (no less than 3 months) Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check; and a signed statutory declaration stating you have no criminal offences (Australia and overseas).
