Centacare Specialist Family Support Services (SFSS) is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage. Our services are available to the entire community regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability. The role:
We are currently seeking two Senior Practitioners to join our team based in Hervey Bay on a Permanent Full-Time basis. Please note that some flexibility is needed in order to meet operational requirements. This is a multi-faceted role providing support in a high volume and high complex risk environment to our clients.
Key Duties:
- Assist the Service Delivery Coordinator to promote Family and Relationship Services across the region, including referral pathways.
- Undertake the appropriate internal and external networking, planning and development activities relevant to the role.
- Provide day to day support and leadership to practitioners and the team, reflective of mission, vision and values.
- Provide counselling to a large range of stakeholders including crisis counselling and intervention, and group facilitation.
- Oversee and provide service delivery in line with program activities, ensuring appropriate access, eligibility and suitability of clients into the service.
- Oversee the day-to-day client risk assessment and management procedures.
- Maintain case records and compile statistics clearly and accurately and in a format suitable for supervision and the preparation for reports.
- Implement regular opportunities for clients to participate in formal feedback and evaluation measures reflective of access and equity principles.
- Assist with the integration of a ‘learning organisation’ and continuous improvement culture within the program.
Skills and Experience: - Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA or ACA).
- Well-developed understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act, as well as the issues and the impacts on families engaged in these systems.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in the principles and practices of contemporary theories; and a working knowledge of psychotherapeutic counselling techniques, solution focused intervention, trauma informed practice, family systems theory and group theories/dynamics.
- Demonstrated articulation of a well-developed practice framework for domestic and family violence and its nexus with child safety, family law, mental health
- Experience in intake, risk assessment, case management and referral pathways crisis intervention and safety planning
- Well-developed written work including report writing, case notes, data collection, data entry and computer literacy skills
- Highly effective communication, with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to advocate for our clients’ needs with other statutory organisations/ departments.
- Have a high degree of professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Availability for some after-hours work.
Essential requirements for the role: - Relevant Tertiary Qualifications.
- Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply.
- Have a current driver’s licence.
- Provide a current (no less than 3 months) Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check and a signed Statutory Declaration stating you have no criminal offences (Australia and overseas).
- Have working rights in Australia.
