About the Role
We are seeking a Practitioner to join our well-established team environment in Maryborough on a Part-Time basis, flexibility is essential to meet operational requirements. This multi-faceted role involves providing trauma-informed practices, focusing on Early Intervention and Prevention, working with children up to 18 years who are at risk of developing a mental health issue and working with the broader family around holistic support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide information, support and referrals for families requiring short-term immediate assistance.
- Provide intensive long term early interventions and warm referrals.
- Support families to develop local community and mental health support systems and provide community outreach, mental health promotion/education and community development activities.
- Undertake strengths and solution focused needs assessment and client risk assessments and develop holistic family support plans.
- Participate in case coordination, family conference meetings, relevant sector/network meetings and communicate with local stakeholders.
Skills and Experience: - Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, or Social/Behavioral Sciences from a recognized institution (including eligibility for membership of APS, AASW, PACFA, or ACA).
- Knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of child-centred and family focused early intervention supports.
- Strong understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, and Family Law Act, as well as the related impacts on families.
- Ability to articulate a robust practice framework and demonstrate an understanding and experience in Strengths-based, solution focused, needs assessment and holistic family case planning; Anti-racist and culturally safe and informed practice; child and youth development-informed practice and risk screening and assessment for domestic and family violence; child protection and suicidality.
- A demonstrated understanding of the specific needs and factors for engaging sensitively and appropriately with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and their families.
- Proficient in written work, including report writing, case notes, and data entry.
- Highly effective communication and strong interpersonal skills to interact with and support clients.
- Demonstrated professionalism and integrity in interactions with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Capability to support and work with diverse families facing complex needs.
- Capacity for regular day to day travel as well as availability for some after-hours work.
Essential Requirements: - Relevant tertiary qualifications (Bachelor's degree preferred) with a minimum of two years' relevant experience; or an Associate Diploma with relevant experience; or lesser qualifications with substantial experience.
- Eligibility or possession of a Working with Children Card (Blue Card).
- Evidence of Australian Work Rights to confirm citizenship or a visa holder (provide evidence at interview).
- Current National Police Certificate or eligibility to obtain one.
- Valid QLD Driver's License.
