The role:
We are currently seeking a Counselling Practitioner to join our team based in Kingaroy in a Part-Time capacity (22.5 hours per week). Some flexibility in hours may be required to meet operational needs. In this role, you will provide counselling to children, couples, adults, and families, assisting them in managing challenges and improving relationships. You will also facilitate group education sessions for a diverse range of clients, focusing on brief solution-focused therapy, grief and loss, and relationship counselling.
Key Duties:
- Complete client intake, including initial and ongoing risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis counselling as required.
- Provide brief solution-focused counselling sessions for children, couples, adults, and families.
- Facilitate psycho-educational or therapeutic group sessions.
- Manage client referrals and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive client outcomes.
- Complete client intake, including initial and ongoing risk assessments, safety planning, and crisis counselling as required.to achieve positive client outcomes.
Skills and Experience: - Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Science from a recognised institution, including eligibility for membership with APS, AASW, PACFA, or ACA.
- Strong understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act, Child Protection Act, and Family Law Act, as well as their impact on families.
- Proven experience in intake, risk assessment, case management, crisis intervention, and safety planning.
- Well-developed writing skills, including report writing, case notes, data collection, and data entry.
- Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate for clients' needs with statutory organisations/departments.
- Professionalism and integrity in working with clients, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to support and work with diverse families facing complex needs.
- Availability for some after-hours work.
- Experience in Brief Solution Focused counselling for a variety of clients.
- Knowledge and experience in delivering group psycho-educational programs.
- Experience in counselling children, couples, adults, and families, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Essential requirements for the role: - Have a current Blue Card – or be eligible to apply;
- Have a current driver’s licence;
- Provide a current Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check or successfully pass one;
- Have working rights in Australia
