About the Role
As a Pastoral Associate, you'll play a key role in supporting the life of the parish through pastoral ministry, including sacramental preparation, faith formation and engagement with parishioners. Working closely with the Parish Priest and Parish Secretary, you'll also provide administrative support to the parish office, helping create a welcoming and well-organised environment for the parish community.
This is a permanent part-time positions of 10 hours per week. The primary focus of the role is pastoral ministry, with parish office administration providing ongoing support to ensure consistent hours throughout the year, alongside additional responsibilities during peak sacramental periods.
The role will flex up with work hours during sacramental periods to provide ongoing coverage of both the office and sacraments
Key Responsibilities:
- Office administration coverage alongside the Parish Priest and Parish Secretary.
- Sacramental preparation, administration.
- Welcome and assist parishioners and visitors.
- Coordinate sacramental programs, including enrolments and family communications.
- Support RCIA, faith formation and other pastoral initiatives.
- Assist in planning and delivering parish liturgies and special celebrations.
- Build relationships with parishioners, volunteers, schools and the wider community.
- Maintain parish records and respond to general enquiries.
- Support volunteer coordination and safeguarding compliance.
- Assist with parish newsletters, communications and community engagement.
About You You enjoy working with people, have a heart for serving others and are passionate about building welcoming communities. You are organised, approachable and comfortable balancing administration with pastoral ministry.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A caring, compassionate and respectful approach when working with people from all walks of life.
- An understanding of, or willingness to learn, Catholic parish life and sacramental ministry.
- A commitment to supporting the mission and values of the Catholic Church.
- A current paid Blue Card and National Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain) will be required.
