Centacare Family and Relationship Services (CFRS) is a non-profit community organisation that supports the strengthening of family and community relationships, particularly where there is vulnerability and disadvantage.  Our services are available to the entire community regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability. The role:

We are seeking a Practitioner to join our team based in our Southport office on the Gold Coast in a permanent, Full-Time capacity. This is a dynamic role delivering counselling and case management support to children, young people, individuals, couples, and families, including those experiencing complex and high-risk circumstances. The position involves crisis intervention, group facilitation, intake and assessment, and working within a trauma-informed, evidence-based framework in a fast-paced service environment.
  
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a strong understanding of program requirements, service agreements, quality standards, and relevant legislation.
• Contribute to planning, service development, and continuous improvement initiatives across the program.
• Build and maintain effective networks with internal and external stakeholders to support service delivery.
• Deliver high-quality counselling services, including crisis intervention, to children, young people, adults, couples, and families.
• Facilitate group programs and provide intake and assessment services as required.
• Ensure all client work is evidence-based, developmentally appropriate, and delivered in a safe and supportive environment.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records in line with organisational policies, funding requirements, and privacy legislation.
• Identify client needs and provide referrals to appropriate community services and supports.
• Monitor and manage risk, including adherence to protocols for high-risk cases and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Complete administrative tasks, reporting, and data collection in a timely and accurate manner.
• Contribute to program evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement through data collection and feedback.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Social/Behavioural Sciences, with a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience and eligibility for APS, AASW or equivalent membership.
• Experience in counselling using evidence-based approaches (e.g. trauma-informed, brief solution-focused, family systems, group work).
• Strong knowledge of domestic and family violence, child protection, and family law.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and client-centred approach.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong written and administrative skills, including case notes, reporting, and data entry.
• Sound computer literacy.
• Ability to work within organisational values, including Catholic Social Teaching principles.

Mandatory Requirements

• Current driver’s licence.
• Blue Card (or ability to obtain).
• Australian work rights.
• Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
