Music Director - Youth and Young Adults

Our teams collaborate across parishes, schools, and communities to deliver initiatives that support faith formation, leadership, outreach, and engagement especially among youth, families, and community groups.
About the Role
The Music Director - Youth and Young Adults plays a vital role in evangelisation through music across the Archdiocese of Brisbane. This role focuses on delivering high-quality music ministry, forming young musicians both musically and spiritually, and building a strong network of young leaders who can serve in parishes and schools.
You will work closely with the Archdiocesan Ministries Youth team, parish priests, school leaders, and young people to create authentic, engaging worship experiences that draw young people into deeper faith.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide excellent music ministry for youth liturgies, events, and gatherings
- Lead and mentor young musicians in parishes and schools
- Build and sustain a network of young musicians across the Archdiocese
- Develop strategies for musical and spiritual formation of young people
- Recruit and apprentice young musicians from schools and parishes
- Collaborate with parish priests, school principals, APREs, and youth leaders
- Develop and implement an annual plan aligned with Archdiocesan priorities
- Foster safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments for all participants
- Contribute positively to team culture and the mission of the Church
About You You are a passionate and skilled musician with a heart for youth ministry and faith formation. You lead through relationships, inspire others, and are committed to helping young people encounter God through music.
You will bring: - Advanced musical ability, including leading worship and directing musicians
- Ability to sing and play at least one instrument to a high standard
- Experience in music ministry and youth leadership (faith context preferred)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
- A lived Christian faith and respect for the Catholic Church (Catholic applicants welcome but not required)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with parishes, schools, and ministry teams
- A lifestyle compatible with the values and teachings of the Church
Qualifications & Requirements - Tertiary qualifications in music, theology, education, or related fields (desirable)
- Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
