Senior Software Delivery Manager - Enterprise SaaS (Auckland)
ABOUT THE COMPANY
My client is a cloud-based policy and document management software provider for insurance brokers. Growth in its enterprise customer base is driving the need for a Senior Software Delivery Manager to own delivery for its largest accounts.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This is a delivery-led, customer-facing role at the centre of how large enterprise accounts experience the product.
- Own end-to-end delivery for the company's largest enterprise customers, including status reporting, escalations, scope negotiation and SLA disputes
- Provide matrixed, dotted-line leadership to Technical Leads and engineers across squads
- Own release management across a multi-stream, high-cadence environment, including branching strategy, environment management and coordinating multi-team production deployments
- Deliver effectively within environments carrying meaningful technical debt and legacy infrastructure
- Push back constructively on unrealistic timelines or scope, backing counter-proposals with evidence
- Apply and tune Agile frameworks to suit delivery needs
- Engage with incident management and DevOps practices to support delivery decisions
- Report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and work alongside Engineering Managers, Tech Team Leads, Staff Engineers and Principal Engineers
WHAT YOU NEED
These are the core requirements my client is looking for.
- 10+ years in software delivery, including at least 4 years in a formal Delivery Manager, Programme Manager or equivalent role within SaaS or enterprise software
- Demonstrated experience owning delivery for large enterprise customers, including escalations and SLA disputes
- Hands-on release management experience in multi-stream SaaS or high-cadence environments
- Proven ability delivering in environments with meaningful technical debt or legacy infrastructure
- Exceptional written and verbal stakeholder communication, with evidenced examples of pushing back on unrealistic commitments
- Comfort operating in commercially direct corporate cultures such as AU/NZ enterprise
- Sufficient technical literacy across any modern SaaS stack to engage credibly with engineers and customers on feasibility, risk and system behaviour; direct hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, Oracle or C# is not needed
- Understanding of incident management and DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation and observability
- Practical experience applying and tuning Agile frameworks
- Matrixed or dotted-line team leadership experience is fine in place of formal line management
