We’re partnering with a privately held New Zealand investment group with interests spanning property, financial services, construction, and technology. They’re looking for a Finance Manager who thrives in hands‑on environments and enjoys real responsibility from day one.
This role sits at the centre of a complex, multi‑entity finance ecosystem. You’ll manage the financial operations of the Stonewood Homes franchise network, lead treasury and cash management across the group, oversee an offshore finance team, and ensure tax and IFRS compliance across multiple New Zealand and Australian entities.

About the Role
 
You’ll work closely with the Financial Controller and Managing Director to run the operational heartbeat of the finance function. This is not a review‑only role — you’ll process payments, run daily cash positions, file GST returns, manage franchise billing, and lead a small team across NZ and offshore.
You’ll also play a key role in transitioning several entities to NZ IFRS RDR reporting, ensuring the group meets IRD requirements as it continues to scale.

What You’ll Do

• Manage end‑to‑end financial operations for the Stonewood Homes franchise network
• Calculate, bill, and collect franchise fees and royalties across NZ and Australia
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting for franchisor entities
• Process bank payments, including ASB batch runs, and manage daily cash positions
• Coordinate inter‑entity funding, transfers, and loan reconciliations
• Lead a team of four (onshore and offshore), setting workflows and quality standards
• Own month‑end close across all group entities and maintain accurate Xero files
• Prepare and file GST returns and manage IRD compliance obligations
• Coordinate income tax, FBT, and tax advisory work with PwC
• Support the preparation of NZ IFRS RDR financial statements
• Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and controls

What You’ll Bring

• CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent)
• 4–5+ years’ post‑qualification experience in finance operations or management accounting
• Strong IFRS technical capability — able to prepare or review NZ IFRS RDR statements
• Hands‑on experience with Xero across multiple entities
• Proven experience managing payments, cash positions, and treasury workflows
• Experience preparing GST returns and managing IRD compliance
• Leadership experience, including managing offshore or remote team members
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to juggle multiple deadlines
• Solid understanding of NZ tax (GST, income tax, FBT)

Nice to Have

• Experience in franchise or multi‑entity environments
• Familiarity with ASB batch payment systems
• Exposure to consolidated reporting
• Experience transitioning from outsourced to in‑house finance functions
• Australian GST/BAS or cross‑border financial management experience
• Experience in property or construction finance
