Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Estimator with experience in LV, MV, HV who can be based either in Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane. Hybrid work arrangements are available.
In this role, you will work closely with project managers, engineers and other key stakeholders to understand project scope, requirements, constructability and commercial considerations, and undertake comprehensive analysis and evaluation of RFT and tender documentation and prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates using our digital estimating tools.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing enquiries and ensuring adequate information is available to enable an accurate estimate, including drawings, commercial terms and specifications.
- Analysing project requirements, including labour, materials, equipment and other resources, to develop accurate cost projections.
- Performing detailed measurements and quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications and other project documentation.
- Developing competitive, comprehensive bids and proposals that meet client and project requirements.
- Obtaining, analysing and evaluating quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure costs are accurate and competitive.
- Building strong relationships and collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders throughout the estimating process.
- Maintaining and organising detailed estimating records, including calculations, assumptions, quotations and supporting documentation.
- Identifying potential risks, uncertainties and opportunities in project costs and incorporating appropriate contingencies and allowances.
- Staying informed about current market trends, material costs, labour rates and other market factors to ensure estimates remain accurate, up-to-date and competitive.
- Reviewing and adjusting estimates based on changes in project scope, design modifications, clarifications, commercial conditions or updated information.
- Preparing and presenting detailed cost reports and estimates to internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key cost drivers, risks and potential areas for cost savings.
- Preparing and issuing tender documentation and supporting the tender submission process.
- Ensuring estimates and proposals comply with relevant industry standards, regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Applying experience with electrical and control systems when developing project estimates.
- Ensuring complete and accurate handover documentation is provided to the project team for project kick-off.
About you
As an experienced Electrical Estimator, you'll bring extensive experience within the Utilities, Industrial, Mining, or Transport sectors for Tier 1 or 2 contracting businesses. Holding either a Trade Certificate, diploma, or a relevant bachelor's degree is essential. You can identify and manage risks and opportunities in new projects through the estimating and submission process.
You are experienced in producing project estimates and performing detailed measurements, issue tender documentation, and have experience with control systems. A strong background in estimating, cost analysis with a proven track record of preparing accurate cost estimates. You bring experience in using digital estimating software tools and have excellent English written and oral skills will ensure effective communication and precise documentation.
