About the role:
Reporting to the Group Manager – Commercial & Risk, the Senior Contracts Manager is accountable for the overall management of the contracts function throughout the project life cycle, once a head contract is executed for live projects.
Key responsibilities include
- Creation of back-to-back contract terms to pass through head contract obligations to subcontractors
- Provide handover to project team of contract documents
- Assist with the review and negotiation of subcontractors and supplier agreements in line with company risk positions
- Provide rights and obligations summary to project team
- Set up process and templates for site teams' strict compliance with contract notices
- Review letters and contractual correspondence
- Ensure systems in place for the management of subcontractors
- Management of key project documentation/contracts
- Provide assistance to project teams for management of disputes (including recognition of heads of claim, claims assessment and strength of position in line with contractual entitlements)
- Assist in the development of strategies for successful resolution of disputes
- Analyse and report on the success of disputes to inform decisions by senior management
- Ensure compliance with the Delegation of Authority Matrix and the company commercial framework
- Develop relationships with key commercial stakeholders
- Develop plans to address project lessons learnt around the Commercial function and feedback to pre-contracts team.
- Close out audit actions within specified timeframes
About you: - At least 7 years+ experience in a similar role within the Australian Civil and infrastructure space
- Degree qualified in Business Law, Construction Management, Commerce, Quantity surveying or similar - preferable
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role that encompasses the full project lifecycle, across multiple live contracts at any given time – A must
- Demonstrated experience in dispute management – Highly regarded
- Ability to travel to site on an ad hoc basis
- Brings a positive, solution focused, results-oriented attitude.
