We work from a foundation of strong value pillars of Safety, Service, Pride and Profit and these and the success and safety of our people are at the heart of everything we do.
It's an exciting time to join our team as we continue to grow and shape the future of supply chain excellence across New Zealand.
About the role:
As an Import Operator, you will be responsible for coordinating international import shipments, ensuring documentation is accurate and compliant, and maintaining strong communication with customers, overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and transport providers.
This is not just a business-as-usual role. We are looking for someone who wants to be actively involved in reviewing, improving, and rebuilding the way our import processes are set up. You will have the opportunity to bring ideas forward, challenge current ways of working, and help shape practical processes that improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and team performance.
As we continue to grow, having a tight, connected team is important to us. This role is office-based, and we are looking for someone who wants to be present with the team, learn from those around them & contribute ideas in person.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate end-to-end air and ocean import shipments.
- Liaise with overseas agents, airlines, shipping lines, customs brokers, transport providers, and customers.
- Prepare, review, and process import documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Arrange customs clearance and delivery of freight.
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively communicate updates to customers.
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand Customs, MPI, and other regulatory requirements.
- Manage invoicing, cost control, and shipment files.
- Resolve shipment issues efficiently while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying gaps and suggesting practical improvements.
- Maintain accurate records within the freight management system.

- The opportunity to bring ideas forward, challenge existing processes, and help shape ways of working that make a real difference to the business.
- A competitive remuneration package based on skills and experience.

What you Bring: - Previous freight forwarding or import experience is preferred, but we are open to training the right person.
- A positive attitude and genuine willingness to learn.
- Curiosity — someone who asks questions and wants to understand the “why,” not just the task.
- CargoWise One experience, or experience with a similar freight system, is preferred but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organised when managing multiple priorities.
- Clear, professional communication and a customer-focused mindset.
- Calmness under pressure and the ability to adapt when priorities change.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership and follow through.
