About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Import Supervisor to lead our import operations team. This role is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end import process for air and sea freight shipments, ensuring compliance, operational efficiency, and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the import team while maintaining strong relationships with customers, carriers, customs authorities, and service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily air and ocean import operations.
- Lead, mentor, and support the import team to achieve operational and service excellence.
- Ensure all import shipments are processed accurately and in compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor shipment status, transit times, and clearance processes to ensure timely delivery.
- Manage and resolve operational issues, delays, and customer escalations.
- Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, freight agents, customs brokers, and government authorities.
- Review and approve import documentation, including bills of lading, airway bills, commercial invoices, and customs entries.
- Ensure accurate job costing, invoicing, and profitability management.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Prepare operational reports and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
What You Bring - Minimum 3–5 years' experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or international trade, with a strong focus on air and ocean imports.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Sound knowledge of customs regulations, import procedures, and international freight operations.
- Strong understanding of Incoterms, shipping documentation, and cargo movement processes.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in freight forwarding software and Microsoft Office applications
