One of our favorite mid-sized law firm clients in Maryland is looking for Commercial Litigation Administrative Assistant to join its Commercial Litigation Department in the firm’s suburban MD office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive administrative support to attorneys specializing in complex commercial litigation. Type and proofread legal documents, including all types of pleadings and correspondence. Manage and organize case files, ensuring all relevant documents, including discovery, are properly filed and easily accessible. Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other parties involved in litigation. Maintenance of digital and physical files. Handle electronic filing (e-filing) and service of court documents in both state and federal courts in Maryland, DC and Virginia. Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, and other appointments. Maintain attorney calendars, deadlines, litigation dates and reminders. Setting up and maintaining digital and physical pleading binders. Generally assist attorneys as needed with secretarial and administrative support.
Qualifications and Skills:
5+ years of assistant/secretarial or administrative support experience in a commercial litigation department/practice. A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and court rules related to litigation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort and skill in speaking with clients. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. E-filing of pleadings in both state and federal courts in Maryland, DC and Virginia. Proficient in technology, Microsoft Office (and in particular expertise in Microsoft Word) and document management software (experience in i-Manage beneficial), and able to effectively use other litigation software. Typing proficiency. Client-focused, detail-oriented, and service-oriented approach. Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and demands. Ability to work in fast-paced litigation environment. Solid compensation ($65- 85k, DOE) and great benefits including health insurance.
