Are you a FERC Paralegal?   Are you ready to become a Paralegal Coordinator?   Are you looking for better work/life balance?   Would you like to work on very interesting matters?    If so, R & W Group has a great newly created position!   One of our clients is a boutique, women-owned law firm that specializes in federal energy regulatory law.  Their practice is nationwide and is primarily focused on matters before, or activities regulated by, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).  They work with companies across the electric and hydropower industries.  Our client is looking for an experienced senior paralegal / paralegal coordinator to support the practice and coordinate the work of our paralegal team.  Everyone works remotely but you must be in the DC area.  
 
Our client is looking for a motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail.  You must be able to (i) communicate clearly in writing and verbally; (ii) manage a constantly evolving workload efficiently; and (iii) be team-oriented and able to operate successfully within a small firm environment.
 
Responsibilities include:

• Assemble, finalize, and submit filings with FERC, regulatory agencies, and courts.
• Prepare and submit tariff filings with FERC through eTariff.
• Manage and update clients’ submissions in FERC’s MBR Database.
• Conduct research on FERC’s eLibrary, Westlaw, and other databases.
• Prepare initial drafts of simple filings.
• Assist with maintaining regulatory tracking systems to facilitate client compliance with FERC’s quarterly and annual filing requirements.
• Coordinate the work of the firm’s paralegal team to ensure that (i) filing responsibilities are clearly identified and understood and that filing deadlines are met, and (ii) projects and tasks assigned by the firm’s attorneys have adequate paralegal team coverage.
• Identify and facilitate training opportunities for the firm’s paralegal team.
• Meet regularly with the paralegal team and senior management.
• The paralegal coordinator does not include HR responsibilities for the paralegal team (e.g., reviews, approval of timesheets or vacation).

 
Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate (or equivalent) is a plus
• Excellent cite checking (Bluebooking, Shepardizing, and proofing) skills
• Experience with FERC’s eTariff and MBR Database

 
Salary/Benefits:

• The position is non-exempt. Salary is commensurate with experience (DOE).  Benefits include health, dental, 401(k) and profit-sharing plan, and life and long-term disability insurance.
