Your Employer
Our client is a growing Australian grain trading and export business established in 2022. Operating with a small Australian team across trading and accumulation, logistics, operations, export documentation and finance, the business offers a flat structure where employees have considerable autonomy and can see the commercial impact of their work.
With plans to expand into new export markets, broaden its commodity coverage and progressively increase control over storage and handling, this is an opportunity to join the business at an important stage of its growth.
The Role
As Grain Accumulator, you will source pulses, cereals and oilseeds from key growing regions across Northern Victoria, NSW, South Australia and Queensland. Working closely with the trading team, you will build direct grower relationships, maintain broker and industry networks and use current market intelligence to identify commercially competitive purchasing opportunities.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Source and accumulate pulses, oilseeds and grains across key growing regions.
- Develop trusted, long-term relationships with growers, brokers and freight providers.
- Monitor grain markets, commodity pricing, crop conditions and competitor activity.
- Negotiate competitive purchasing opportunities and execute grain contracts.
- Provide timely market and grower intelligence to support trading decisions.
- Coordinate accumulated grain movements to packing, storage and end-user facilities.
- Maintain accurate accumulation, contract, stock and grower information within business systems.
About You You understand the Australian grain industry and know how to build credibility with growers. Commercial judgement, confident negotiation and strong communication will be important.
The environment is suited to someone comfortable working independently within a small, flexible business rather than relying on the structured processes of a larger corporate operation.
To be considered for the role, you must be able to address the following criteria: - Strong practical knowledge of Australian grain markets and commodity pricing.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain grower, broker and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong commercial negotiation, communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to identify and secure quality grain at competitive market prices.
- Capacity to work autonomously, manage priorities and take ownership of your workflow.
- Strong organisation, record keeping and CRM capability.
The Benefits: Once established, there is scope for a flexible, WFH arrangement for a candidate who demonstrates strong autonomy and communication, with occasional office attendance required.
Beyond flexibility, this position offers the opportunity to join a young grain export business where your contribution will be visible. As the business and accumulation function grow, there is potential for salary increases, greater responsibility and career progression within accumulation or into trading.
- $90,000–$110,000 + superannuation
- Car allowance
- Flexible/WFH arrangements following successful onboarding.
- Scope for the position to evolve around the successful candidate's strengths.
- Career progression as the accumulation team and broader business grow.
