Endurance's Abra Mine is located approximately 220km north of Meekatharra, in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The underground mine represents one of the world's cleanest and largest lead-silver projects.
 
The Role
 
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, as Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for conducting the day to day safe expansion of mine infrastructure & mining activities by applying your knowledge of rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles.
 
You will ensure that all mining and geotechnical engineering work complies with statutory and regulatory requirements and, company policies and procedures.
 
In addition, your responsibilities will include:

• Provide geotechnical support to mining operations in the form of geotechnical data collection, program planning, execution, and ground stability design review.
• Ensure Geotechnical design requirements are addressed at the level extraction plans, stope note, and development design sign off stages.
• Ensuring all mining and geotechnical engineering work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Supporting the Underground Manager in the effective implementation of the Ground Control Management Plans/PMHMP documents
• Consult with External Geotechnical Advisors and Senior Consultants regarding additional projects (Modelling etc), reviews and management plans as required.

About You
 
Your work ethic will be reliable, consistent, and always with a high attention to detail. You are a collaborative and productive team player. In addition, you will need:

• Bachelor of Engineering or Science with a Geotechnical specialisation
• Current WA "C" class driver's license
• Computer literacy and business software knowledge
• 6+ years hands on experience in geotechnical engineering
• Experience with long hole open stoping with cemented paste
• Ability to utilise mining software packages and tools would be advantageous, including Deswik, Dips, Unwedge, RS2 - 2D numerical model / RS3 / Map3D - 3D stress modelling (Additional assistance provided by External Consultant)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• The ability to meet established timeframes and solve daily problems that arise
• Excellent understanding of statutory requirements of the WA Mining Act and Regulations, together with the WHS Act.
• Proven ability to thrive in diverse operational environments.
