Operations Manager - Home Care
- Full-time, permanent leadership role
- Competitive salary plus superannuation, with an incentive structure in place
- Flexible hybrid working arrangement
- Growing aged care provider - Support at Home program
Esse Care is a growing aged care provider delivering community home care across Melbourne and Sydney, supporting older Australians to live well and independently at home. As the organisation grows, it is committed to combining genuine, person-centred care with strong, commercially minded operations.
The Role Reporting to the director group and based in Tullamarine, you will take exclusive ownership of the operations of Esse Care’s Support at Home program. The care partners (case managers) and the rostering team report directly to you, and you will work closely with the intake, compliance and human resources functions, while providing remote oversight of the Sydney team. You will spend most of your time supporting the care partners who guide client outcomes.
This is a role for someone who understands both the operational and commercial sides of home care, and who leads with calm and capability. It is a hybrid position, three days in the office and two from home, with the first two months office-based so you can learn the business well.
Key Responsibilities - Provide effective leadership of daily operations to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
- Oversee financial management, including budgets, funding utilisation and service-delivery efficiency.
- Maintain robust governance, risk, incident and quality assurance frameworks, and ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Translate strategic priorities into practical plans, and lead the team through sector reform and change.
- Identify business development opportunities, partnerships and referral pathways that support sustainable growth.
- Lead, mentor and develop the team, and oversee recruitment, rostering and workload across the program.
- Maintain responsive communication with clients and families, and represent Esse Care across the sector.
Key Selection Criteria Success in this role calls for a commercially minded, people-focused leader who can see the whole picture, not only the clinical detail. You are someone who learns quickly, leads with care, and thrives in a growing, purpose-driven organisation.
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Proven operational or service management experience, ideally within aged care or home care.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to see beyond service delivery to the whole business.
- Demonstrated people leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
- A sound understanding of aged care funding and compliance, ideally the Support at Home program.
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-moving, growing environment.
- A current driver’s licence (a National Police Check will be required).
A clinical or nursing background is welcome but not essential. Above all, this role calls for someone commercially minded who learns quickly and leads well.
Why Join Esse Care? At Esse Care, you will be joining a growing organisation that backs its people and values commercial thinking alongside quality care. This role offers:
- Real ownership: exclusive responsibility for the Support at Home program, with the scope to shape how it grows.
- Competitive package: a competitive salary plus superannuation, with an incentive structure in place.
- Flexible, hybrid working: three days in the office and two from home once you are established in the role.
- Room to grow: a genuine opportunity for promotion within a growing business.
- Supportive leadership: a director group that values commercial thinking, quick learners, and people who lead with care.
