Girl Guides Victoria is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Communications & Engagement to lead their communications, marketing and engagement function during a 6-month fixed term contract through to late September 2026.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping the voice, visibility and reputation of Girl Guides Victoria. You will lead a broad portfolio spanning communications, marketing, events support, retail operations and membership systems, ensuring cohesive, high-quality experiences for members, volunteers, families and the wider community. This is a varied and high-impact role, suited to a senior communications professional who thrives in a values-driven environment and is ready to make their mark on one of Australia's most enduring and beloved organisations.
The Role - Lead high-quality communications across digital, media and community channels, ensuring consistent and contemporary brand representation
- Provide strategic communications advice to the CEO and Leadership Team on messaging, risks and reputation management
- Lead marketing, digital and brand strategy including integrated campaigns, SEO, analytics and media opportunities
- Oversee events administration and coordination, ensuring consistent and brand-aligned member experiences
- Provide leadership and oversight of retail operations, membership systems and database administration
- Lead and develop a small multidisciplinary team across communications, events, retail and membership functions
- Manage the communications budget and report to the Executive Committee and CEO as required
Key Selection Criteria - A tertiary qualification in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field
- Extensive senior experience in a communications, marketing or public relations role, with demonstrated people leadership capability
- Proven ability to lead integrated campaigns across digital, media and PR channels, including planning, measurement and analytics
- Experience leading and developing small teams, with a coaching and collaborative leadership style
- Prior experience in the not-for-profit, youth or membership-based sector highly regarded
- A genuine commitment to the mission of Girl Guides Victoria and the development of young women and girls
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to write with clarity, warmth and impact across a range of audiences and formats
- Skilled across digital platforms, CRM tools and marketing automation, with strong content and storytelling instincts
- Adaptable, resilient and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
