What You'll Be Doing As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you'll gain experience across all aspects of the commercial function, including:
- Assisting with project cost management and forecasting
- Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment
- Supporting the identification and valuation of variations and scope changes
- Producing cost reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs)
- Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Buyers and Contracts Managers
- Supporting subcontractor procurement and account management
- Processing subcontractor payments
- Attending project and commercial meetings
- Helping maintain accurate project records and reporting systems
- Assisting with measurement and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) preparation
- Visiting project sites to gain practical construction experience
- Building strong relationships with operational and commercial teams
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone with the right attitude and potential rather than extensive industry experience.
You may be:
- Studying towards a Quantity Surveying degree
- A recent Quantity Surveying graduate
- Completing a Quantity Surveying apprenticeship
- Looking for your first commercial role within construction or civil engineering
You'll also have:
- A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or be working towards one
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- GCSE Maths Grade 6 (or equivalent) or above
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic
- The confidence to build relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- A desire to develop a successful long-term career within construction
Additional Requirements - Full UK driving licence
- Access to your own vehicle
- You'll be office based with the willingness to travel to project sites across the region (mileage will be paid)
