Job Title: Buyer / Senior Buyer - Construction
Location: West Midlands
Salary: £55k - £70k per annum (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, permanent, office based
We're proud to be partnering with a well-established and highly reputable sub-contractor within the construction industry. With a strong pipeline of secured projects and repeat business from Tier 1 contractors, this company continues to deliver high-quality work across the region.
Due to continued growth and a full order book, we're seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to play a key role within the procurement and commercial team. As Senior Buyer, you'll take ownership of the procurement of materials and subcontract services across projects, ensuring best value, on-time delivery, and strong supplier performance. Working closely with the commercial and site teams, you'll help drive procurement efficiency and contribute to the continued success of this respected business.
What you'll be doing:
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for materials and subcontractor services
- Source and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value, quality, and service
- Raise and manage purchase orders, issue enquiries, and monitor delivery schedules
- Maintain accurate records of requisitions, supplier data, and goods received
- Build and maintain effective supplier relationships, monitoring performance and compliance
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement procurement improvements
- Collaborate with project teams to align purchasing strategies with programme needs
What you'll bring to this role: - Proven and substantial experience in procurement within the construction sector (sub-contractor experience ideally)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, able to build positive relationships internally and externally
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and Outlook)
- Good working knowledge of construction materials and supply chains
- Strong administration skills and the willingness to undertake the procurement administrative duties
