Operator (Water Truck)

Operating water trucks, plant and equipment, you'll support civil construction, maintenance and infrastructure projects that make a real difference to the community. General Salary Information This position is classified as
Level 4 + construction allowance under the
Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream B) Certified Agreement.
The salary is
$66,102 per annum plus superannuation. $33.4525 per hour.

Key Responsibilities - Operate water trucks safely and efficiently for road construction, maintenance, dust suppression, fire prevention and landscaping activities.
- Operate a variety of plant and equipment to support Council construction, maintenance and municipal operations.
- Assist with a range of civil construction and maintenance tasks, including roadworks, drainage, footpaths, asphalting and other infrastructure-related duties.
- Transport and distribute water, materials, equipment and resources to support the delivery of essential Council services.
- Conduct routine inspections, servicing and minor maintenance of plant and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Work collaboratively with team members to deliver high-quality services while maintaining compliance with Work Health and Safety and environmental requirements.

Mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience in the basic routine maintenance and the safe operation of plant as an ‘Operator’ within Local Government or in the Civil Construction industry;
- Current White Card (General Construction Induction);
- Current certificate of competency to operate a variety of plant and machinery including Backhoe and Skid Steer;
- Demonstrated physical ability necessary to undertake manual handling and labouring for extended periods in direct sunlight and/or inclement weather conditions;
- Current Queensland ‘HR’ Class Drivers licence or equivalent;
- Ability to provide feedback/status updates through the use of verbal, written and electronic devices on work activities undertaken to the appropriate Team Leader or the ability and willingness to undertake the required training to complete such; and
- Ability to work safely and productively under limited general supervision.
Desirable: - Current certificate of competency to operate a variety of plant and machinery including Roller, Loader, Excavator and other machinery and plant associated with municipal operations;
- Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations) or the ability and willingness to obtain;
- Demonstrated experience in form-setting and concreting activities; and
- Competent in Traffic Control and Traffic Management Implementation or the ability and willingness to obtain.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements This is a hands-on operational role. Applicants must be physically capable of safely performing manual handling and other strenuous tasks, including lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting and working in confined spaces or at heights.
