This is an opportunity to contribute to the integrity and performance of local government by applying your professional expertise in a strategic governance context. Your leadership will support Council in ensuring effective oversight of its responsibilities and operations.
The ARC is an advisory committee to Council that is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to Council regarding financial management, risk management, governance, internal controls, legislative compliance, internal and external audit planning and reporting. The emphasis is on continuous improvement, transparency, improving performance and managing risk within Council.
Expressions of interest are sought from suitably qualified and experienced applicant seeking the role of an independent member and chair of the Committee. The expected term of appointment will be for an initial period of three (3) years, with a possible extension up to six (6) years.

Our Ideal Candidate We are looking for an experienced and independent professional with a strong background in financial management, risk oversight, and public sector governance. You will bring strategic insight, sound judgment, and a commitment to integrity in supporting Council’s audit and risk functions.
You will be confident chairing meetings, constructively challenging management practices, and guiding Council through complex governance matters. Your ability to engage with stakeholders, interpret legislation, and apply best practice standards will be key to your success in this role.
Key Responsibilities - Chair quarterly Audit and Risk Committee meetings and ensure effective governance of proceedings;
- Provide independent assurance on Council’s financial reporting, risk management, and internal control frameworks;
- Oversee the performance and scope of internal and external audit functions;
- Advise on compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice standards;
- Facilitate communication between auditors, management, and Council to support transparency and accountability;
- Constructively challenge and guide Council’s strategic risk and governance practices;
- Review and endorse the Audit Committee Charter and annual work plan; and
- Monitor implementation of audit recommendations and risk mitigation strategies.
