The Opportunity As a Training Administration Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth delivery and administration of learning and development activities across Council. You will be instrumental in supporting the development of a skilled, compliant, and capable workforce through the coordination of training programs, professional development opportunities, and Council’s trainee and apprentice programs. Working closely with internal teams and external providers, you will help ensure that training initiatives are well-organised, aligned with Council’s strategic objectives, and meet legislative and organisational requirements. Key Responsibilities - Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Manager in coordinating the training lifecycle, including scheduling, budgeting assistance, and general implementation tasks;
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions, workshops, and learning events, including scheduling, venue arrangements, materials, and participant communications;
- Maintain accurate training records and track employee progress to ensure compliance and measure the effectiveness of learning programs;
- Monitor the onboarding process in collaboration with the HR team and assist managers with onboarding activities as required;
- Oversee the implementation of the annual training calendar and assist in ensuring employee accreditations are current and compliant;
- Maintain up-to-date advertising and promotion of internal and external training and professional development opportunities;
- Assist in the preparation of training reports and analysis of training outcomes and return on investment;
- Coordinate and support Council’s trainee and apprentice programs, as well as student placements and work experience opportunities;
- Represent Council at industry events on occasion to support attraction and branding as an employer of choice; and
- Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competencies, and the classification of the role.

You will have experience in administration or training/Learning and Development coordination, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively across teams. A positive attitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn will see you succeed in this role.
This role will have the opportunity to represent Council at industry events, such as career expos, which would occasionally require availability outside ordinary working hours. Mandatory: - Qualifications in Learning and Development, Human Resources and/or 2 years' experience in a similar role with transferrable skills;
- Ability to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Australian Apprenticeship and Traineeship system;
- Experience and ability to work independently and under broad direction to achieve identified objectives and outcomes;
- Effective verbal and written communication ability to confidently engage and influence a range of audiences;
- Strong organisational skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to self-manage multiple tasks in an ever-changing environment;
- High level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with honesty and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality;
- Current Queensland ‘C’ Class licence as you may be required to travel within the Shire to other Council sites.
Desirable: - Previous experience in local government;
- Experience using HRIS systems, preferably Technology One; and
- Developing knowledge of employment legislation and industrial relations requirements.
General Salary Information:This position is classified as Level 2 under the Hinchinbrook Shire Council Local Government Officers (Stream A) Certified Agreement.
The salary is $68,134 per annum (pro-rata) plus superannuation. $36.15 hourly rate.
