Reporting to the Senior Manager, Custody - Sydney, the Relationship Manager, Custody & Real Assets plays a key role within our Corporate and Specialist Trustee Services (CSTS) business. You will manage a diverse portfolio of debenture, listed note, and private asset custody appointments, acting as a primary point of contact for clients and representing Equity Trustees to the market.
This role combines strong client relationship management with hands-on operational delivery in a highly regulated environment. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders, service providers, and clients to ensure onboarding, ongoing administration, and compliance obligations are met accurately and efficiently.

About the Role
- Manage a book of debentures, listed notes, and private asset (equity and credit) custody appointments.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering a responsive and high-quality client experience.
- Assist with onboarding new clients, including participation in new business calls and negotiation of appointment documentation.
- Administer day-to-day client activities, including reviewing reports, approving payments, executing documents, and overseeing trustee contractual obligations.
- Ensure all onboarding and operational processes are delivered in line with Equity Trustees' frameworks and service level agreements.
- Prepare documents for execution and diligently carry out client instructions, ensuring appropriate authorisations and controls are in place.
- Coordinate asset and document safekeeping and provide ongoing client reporting. Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve queries and maintain service standards.
- Assist with projects and ad hoc client requests as required.
- Contribute to a high-performing team culture and build relationships with service providers and intermediaries.
- Participate in regulatory obligations, internal control testing, and ensure compliance with legislative and internal frameworks.
- Maintain awareness of relevant legislative and regulatory changes, including Corporations Act requirements.
What You Need - Demonstrable working knowledge of debentures and listed notes legal requirements, including Chapter 2L of the Corporations Act.
- At least 5 years' experience in corporate trust, custody, or debt capital markets roles. Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management capability with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A client-focused mindset with a proactive and flexible approach to work.
- A genuine interest in understanding business models, asset structures, and associated risks.
- Continuous improvement mindset and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Salesforce and NavOne highly regarded.
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Law (mandatory).
