Our client, a leading national utility construction firm, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead power substation projects in the Greater Philadelphia area.
In this role, you'll manage a portfolio of power utility construction projects from planning through execution and closeout. You'll oversee all aspects of power substation construction, coordinate field crews and subcontractors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget. As the primary client contact, you'll maintain communication with utility clients, internal teams, and stakeholders while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Candidates should have a deep, hands-on experience with power substations—including transformers, switchgear, bus work, grounding, and site coordination—while also owning project budgets, tracking costs, and managing overall project profitability. You'll monitor project progress, manage procurement, and ensure projects run efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple electrical substation projects across the Greater Philadelphia area, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and utility clients to support daily project operations.
- Monitor project budgets, timelines, and progress; report variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain project documentation, including contracts, permits, change orders, daily reports, and closeout materials.
- Support procurement and timely delivery of materials to project sites.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, NESC/NESC codes, and company safety policies throughout all project phases.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Track labor productivity, material costs, direct and indirect expenses, and project margins.
- Perform quality control inspections and assist with punch lists and closeout documentation.
- Mentor and train field staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Requirements: - 5+ years of utility project management experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on power substation project management experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with project management software is a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Willingness to travel to project sites weekly (up to 2 hours from the office).
Salary: $135k-150K base + discretionary bonus
Location: Blue Bell, PA - covering the Greater Philadelphia area
Hybrid: Typically 4 days in the field, Fridays in office
Travel: Weekly travel to project sites
