About the role 
Join our Managed Security Engineering team in a hands on Security Engineering role supporting the backend technologies used by our Security Operations teams. You will have the opportunity to work across a range of customer environments, helping keep core security platforms stable, available, patched and operating effectively. 
Build deeper engineering capability across platforms such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Tenable and LogicMonitor, with support from experienced senior engineers and technical leadership. 
This role would suit someone with some SIEM, security operations or infrastructure experience who wants to move further into platform engineering, automation and backend security tooling. 
You do not need to be an expert across every platform from day one, curiosity, strong troubleshooting fundamentals and a willingness to learn are important. 
 
What you’ll be doing 

• Support and maintain backend security platforms used by SOC and security operations teams. 
• Troubleshoot issues across log ingestion, forwarders, collectors, integrations and platform availability. 
• Perform security platform patching, upgrades and routine maintenance activities. 
• Support customer incidents where SIEM or security tooling is degraded, unavailable or no longer ingesting data correctly. 
• Assist with onboarding and maintaining log sources across customer environments. 
• Work closely with SOC analysts and security engineers to ensure the platforms they rely on are healthy and providing the right data. 
• Complete scheduled changes and support ongoing service improvement activities. 
• Help maintain platform health across Windows, Linux and cloud-connected environments. 
• Contribute to scripting and automation initiatives, including reporting, health checks and repetitive operational tasks. 
• Develop capability across additional monitoring and security platforms as the team’s responsibilities continue to grow. 

Skills & Experience  

• Some hands-on experience with Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel or another SIEM platform. 
• Exposure to security engineering, SOC operations, platform support, systems administration or infrastructure engineering. 
• Understanding of areas such as log ingestion, forwarders, collectors, data onboarding or integrations. 
• Good troubleshooting skills across applications, infrastructure or security platforms. 
  Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux environments. 
• Exposure to patching, upgrades, change management or maintaining production systems. 
• An interest in scripting and automation; experience with Python, PowerShell or APIs would be beneficial but is not essential. 
• Experience with Tenable or LogicMonitor would be advantageous. 
• Strong willingness to learn and develop across multiple security technologies. 
• Comfortable working across multiple customer environments and collaborating with SOC, engineering and infrastructure teams 

  
Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a mandatory requirement that all applicants are Australian citizens with the ability to hold an Australian Government Security Clearance.
