About the role
At MSWA, we’re committed to providing tailored care and support for individuals living with neurological conditions, such as MS, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Motor Neuron Disease, Acquired Brain Injury, and Stroke. Our physiotherapy assistant provides client-specific therapy in both centre-based and home-based settings as prescribed by the treating Physiotherapist and/or Accredited Exercise Physiologist, supporting clients to achieve their individual health and rehabilitation goals. The role also utilises extensive clinical skills and experience to mentor, guide, and support Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology Services staff, promoting best-practice service delivery, professional development, and high-quality client outcomes.
What you’ll be doing
- Deliver client-specific therapy programs in centre-based and home-based settings, including stretches, strength training, balance activities, mobility exercises, and prescribed exercise programs.
- Support therapy sessions and group programs such as hydrotherapy, circuit classes, and exercise groups under the direction of a Physiotherapist or Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
- Implement and monitor home exercise programs, ensuring clients are supported to achieve their therapy goals and reporting progress to the supervising clinician.
- Provide high-quality client support and personal care during therapy sessions, promoting safety, comfort, independence, and wellbeing.
- Mentor, guide, and support staff, students, and volunteers, providing clinical supervision, training, and contributing to professional development initiatives across the department.
- Contribute to the effective operation and continuous improvement of the Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology Services Department, including service development, strategic planning, and maintaining therapy equipment and facilities.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, communication, and administrative processes, including case notes, client records, departmental supplies, and collaboration with therapists, clinical leaders, and managers.
Must-haves - Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Physiotherapy), or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence (no restrictions).
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Workers Orientation Module (or willingness to obtain).
- Basic First Aid and CPR
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
