About the Role
As a Cook at our newest Shenton Park Accommodation, you’ll play a key role in enhancing the wellbeing of our residents by preparing nutritious, delicious meals tailored to individual needs.
Working closely with the Residential Services Team, our Clients and the Dietetic Team you’ll plan menus, manage food supplies, and ensure the kitchen remains safe, clean, and compliant with food safety standards.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking with purpose, values meaningful connections, and takes pride in maintaining high standards of food quality and hygiene.
There are two permanent part-time positions which are based in Shenton Park, each offering 56 hours per fortnight.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop menu plans in consultation with residents and our Dietetic Department, catering to dietary requirements
- Work in accordance with each client's Mealtime Support Plan, ensuring meals are prepared, presented, and provided safely while supporting individual dietary, health, and nutritional requirements.
- Ensure adequate food supplies through effective shopping and stock management
- Maintain strict food safety practices, including correct food storage, handling and labelling
- Keep kitchen areas clean, hygienic and compliant with health regulations
- Support small functions and communal meal preparation within the residence
- Maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and inventory
- Communicate effectively with staff to ensure residents’ needs are consistently met
Must-haves - Food Safe Food Hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous experience in a similar cooking or hospitality role
- Ability to plan and prepare nutritious meals within a budget
- Strong understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety standards
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module (or willingness to obtain)
