Help take an Australian medtech breakthrough to the world
- Lead the operational scale-up of an ASX-listed medtech as its first FDA-cleared product enters global markets.
- Build the manufacturing, supply-chain and quality platform for a multi-product commercial future.
- Work directly with the CEO and Board at a defining moment in the company’s growth story.
Optiscan is at a rare and defining point in its story. After three decades developing world-leading confocal endomicroscopy and imaging technology, the company has put its first FDA-compliant product, InSpecta™, into the hands of customers overseas. Its US commercial launch at the AVMA Convention in July 2026 marks the beginning of a new chapter: a transition from deep-tech development to a global, multi-product commercial business.
That transition needs an exceptional operational leader.
This is not a caretaker COO role. It is the opportunity to build the operational platform that allows a technically exceptional Australian medtech company to deliver on its global potential. You will be there at the moment the business turns deep IP, clinical progress and a first international launch into scalable commercial execution.
The opportunity
As
Chief Operating Officer, you will report directly to Optiscan’s CEO and Managing Director, Dr Camile Farah, and lead the next operational step-up from the company’s Mulgrave site. You will own manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, quality and facilities, with a mandate to build the capability, discipline and leadership systems needed for sustainable commercial growth.
You will have the scope to:
- Build for scale — create a high-performing, quality-led manufacturing and supply-chain operation capable of supporting international growth.
- Shape the commercial transition — translate product, clinical and market momentum into reliable production, delivery and customer confidence.
- Lead close to the science — work alongside a highly technical leadership team and engaged Board, connecting operational excellence with breakthrough imaging technology.
- Make a visible difference — bring the judgement, pace and rigour needed in a business where your impact will be felt across the organisation and in global markets.
Optiscan’s product pipeline, which includes hardware and software offerings, makes the moment especially compelling. InSpecta™ is now in commercial use in veterinary imaging, while InVue™ for precision surgery and InForm™ for digital pathology progress through clinical trials, including a newly signed Mayo Clinic collaboration, toward FDA submission later this year. The company is building the manufacturing backbone not only for one product launch but also for a portfolio with significant clinical and global market potential.
Why Optiscan, why now
Few senior operations roles offer this combination of genuine purpose, technical depth, direct CEO and Board exposure, and the opportunity to build rather than simply inherit. You will join an ASX-listed Melbourne medtech at the point where operational leadership becomes central to the company’s next phase of value creation.
For the right person, this is a chance to help define how a pioneering Australian technology business becomes a trusted global commercial manufacturer — and to build a meaningful leadership legacy in the process.
About you
You are a credible, hands-on senior operations leader who is energised by the challenge of building for growth. You bring:
- senior operational leadership experience in medical technology, medical devices, diagnostics or closely related regulated manufacturing;
- a demonstrated ability to scale manufacturing through commercial inflection points, rather than simply maintain steady-state production;
- sound judgement across production, supply chain, quality, delivery and operational performance;
- strong project management skills, with the ability to navigate complexity, balance competing demands and deliver against challenging timelines;
- the confidence and emotional intelligence to partner closely with a technically expert CEO and engaged Board; and
- an engineering qualification as a strong preference, rather than a prerequisite. Proven regulated-manufacturing leadership matters most.
