About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex Defence projects from development through to delivery.
You will manage multidisciplinary teams working on new products, including optical, navigation and sensor technologies for military and guided weapon applications.
You will work closely with customers, Defence stakeholders, suppliers, subcontractors and international teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex Defence projects.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams across engineering, software, electronics and manufacturing.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets and milestones.
- Manage project risks, issues, resources and dependencies.
- Oversee projects from product design and development through to manufacturing and delivery.
- Represent the business at key reviews and meetings, including MSRs, IBRs and CSRs.
- Manage suppliers, subcontractors and external resources.
- Monitor project costs, schedules and performance using Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Prepare project reports, forecasts and Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) analysis.
- Ensure contractual requirements and project obligations are met.
- Support continuous improvement of project management processes and systems.
- Monitor project and technology maturity against customer requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Significant experience managing complex engineering, technology or Defence projects.
- Experience managing new product development projects involving electronics, embedded systems, firmware and/or software.
- Previous experience managing software development projects.
- Strong project planning, scheduling, budgeting and cost management skills.
- Experience with EVM and ETC analysis.
- Strong risk management and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing suppliers, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with defence contracts is highly desirable. Understanding of agile or iterative project delivery is desirable.
- You must be an Australian citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence security clearance.
