Codematix is proud to partner with a leading global defence company to identify experienced AI / Image Processing Engineers for advanced imaging and surveillance system programs.
  
Based in Sydney, this role offers the opportunity to lead innovation at the intersection of AI, machine learning, computer vision and electro-optical systems, contributing to mission-critical platforms with international reach.

The position is within the defence sector and requires that you are an Australian citizen. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and validate high-level image processing algorithms for electro-optical systems
• Build and implement performance models, vision algorithms, and stabilised control systems tailored to complex mission environments
• Model, simulate, and test algorithms using tools such as MATLAB and Python
• Collaborate with systems engineers and optronics experts to integrate signal processing solutions into broader systems.

Candidate Requirement

• 5+ years' experience in image or signal processing roles
• A solid understanding of signal and image processing fundamentals
• Proficient in MATLAB and Python for algorithm development and prototyping
• Experience in AI / machine learning for computer vision (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Experience deploying image processing algorithms on embedded or GPU platforms
• Familiarity with sensor data (EO/IR cameras, gimbals, or UAV payloads)
• Strong communication and technical documentation capabilities

This position requires that you hold Australian citizenship. You will also need to obtain an NV1 clearance.
