Job Description & Synthesis
The Compliance Operations role will report to Head of Licensing and Exam Management and will help build out the compliance framework and operations, while partnering closely with one of our client's fastest-growing businesses. They will serve as the Qualified Individual (QI) or Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) for licensing purposes. Help create a quality control process to ensure loans meet our contractual obligations with lenders and work with the client team to drive oversight.
Develop dashboard compliance reporting around KPIs/KRIs.
Work with Global Compliance and Legal to implement regulatory changes.
Help develop policies and implement processes with the Smart Money team.
Work with Licensing & Exam Manager and Mortgage Compliance Manager to assist in licensing, reporting, examinations and inquiry response.
Work with the Mortgage Compliance Manager and the client business team to ensure product changes meet regulatory requirements and regulatory change is implemented effectively.
Help to train staff in mortgage brokering procedures, Federal and State regulations.
Help drive the mindset that Compliance is a strategic advantage, enabling growth and customer delight.
Minimum 5 years of recent experience in residential mortgage lending
Extensive knowledge of applicable mortgage lending regulations and guidelines, mortgage products and compliance
Expert in mortgage loan brokering activities
Active Mortgage Loan Originator licenses in Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas (SML), and Washington. All licenses must be in an active status and renewed for the current licensing year.
Meets Qualified Individual requirements for multiple states, including an Indiana Principal Manager License, Utah Lending Manager License, and Washington Designated Broker Registration
NMLS SAFE ACT compliant which includes the National Test with Uniform State Content, pre-licensure education, and annual continuing education courses
National Test with Uniform State Content passed within the last 4 years
Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results. Individuals in a SAFE position also must meet the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO) outlined in the job expectations below.
Must be in a commutable distance from Mountain View, CA corporate headquarters
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience preferred
Knowledge of mortgage lending, including familiarity with applicable federal and state regulations, such as ECOA, FCRA, TILA, TRID, HMDA, UDAP, GLBA/Privacy, OFAC, RESPA and 3rd party vendor management.
Ability to work independently – self-starter, enthusiastic and highly motivated.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound and balanced judgment
Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
