Our client, one of the UK’s most innovative law firms that embraced flexible working long before the pandemic, is looking for an ambitious PR Executive who will also be based remotely. This hands-on role, working in a fast-paced, supportive and dynamic team, would suit someone who is creative, has a passion for writing and a proven track record of creating high-quality communication content, as well as having the ability to spot newsworthy topics and emerging issues.
Reporting to the PR & Communications Manager, the successful candidate will spend their day working closely with the Manager to proactively drive press activity and communications content in line with business development and marketing campaigns and initiatives. The candidate will also be liaising with senior lawyers and the directors of the business on a daily basis to identify and cultivate media opportunities.
PR and communications are an important part of the firm’s pioneering marketing mix and this is a great opportunity for someone to play a key role in helping to drive forward profile-raising activities and to get stuck in from day one by contributing ideas, all the while being supported by seven members of the collegiate marketing team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Reading the daily newspapers, online sources and social media to identify hot topics and PR opportunities.
Working with lawyers to generate news stories and PR hooks targeting key national, trade and regional press.
Drafting and distributing press releases.
Building and maintaining accurate media lists.
Tracking and distributing media coverage.
Drafting social media content, working closely with team members to create eye-catching visuals to accompany the post.
Reviewing and editing articles drafted by lawyers to ensure they can be understood by all audiences.
Writing articles and other content.
Assisting with the reporting of PR activities.
Assisting with other duties as required by the PR & Communications Manager.
The candidate will be required to travel to the firm’s Central Office in Chancery Lane, London, for occasional meetings and other firm events as and when needed.
Ideal candidates will:
Be educated to degree level or have exceptional A-level qualifications in journalism, PR and communications or similar.
Have at least 2 years’ previous PR or communications experience, ideally in an agency environment. Previous experience of working alongside professional service firms would be advantageous, but not necessary.
Be able to research, write and edit compelling content.
Be well presented and have excellent communication skills, being able to adapt styles of both written and verbal to reflect the audience.
Have excellent organisational and time management skills – must be able to juggle competing priorities and manage a range of activities in a timely and efficient manner.
Be action-orientated and motivated.
Have great attention to detail.
Have confidence with and able to build rapport with senior individuals via email, telephone and in person.
Be confident with computers and have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
An understanding of how to write content for SEO purposes would be beneficial but not essential.
