Our client, a leading Southeastern Bank, is looking for a Director Centralized Credit Services to join their growing team.

JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:
Director, Centralized Credit Services (“CCS”) is responsible for overseeing centralized loan underwriting and portfolio management for C&I, owner-occupied and investor CRE loans (up to $7.5MM in exposure) for relationships originated through the Commercial, Business Banking and Community Banking channels, ensuring loans are properly underwritten, monitored and portfolio managed according to credit and risk policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages a largely centralized team of associates, Managers, and Team Leads comprised of Senior Underwriters, Loss Mitigation, SBA and Centralized Documentation.
Responsible for meeting credit quality goals, production and performance SLAs, and pricing/margin initiatives.
Develop/maintain a culture within the business unit that proactively works with bankers to meet our clients’ borrowing needs within the Bank’s risk appetite. Propose alternative solutions if the request cannot be approved as requested.
Maintains solid knowledge of all products and services offered in Business, Commercial and Community Banking.
Maintains a thorough working knowledge of our bank’s credit policies and procedures.
Hires, develops and promotes team members with the appropriate skills to support the function to which they are assigned and provides leadership and strategic direction to the team in coordination with the overall credit risk function of the bank further educating and training line personnel on commercial C&I and real estate credit and policy issues, as well as department policies and procedures.
Manages the overall approval process for loans including the recommended assignment of credit authorities and the adjudication of override approval requests while ensuring all loan packages are properly documented and accurately analyzed with conditions of approval properly stated.
Participates in the development of CCS service level agreements (SLAs) and is responsible for ensuring timely responses and client satisfaction.
Assists CCS Managers with the auditing of loan underwriter decisions to ensure credit standards are being met.
Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and regulatory laws and policies and internal underwriting policies, procedures, and audit standards; responds to audit exceptions while also staying abreast of and remain in compliance with all applicable regulatory guidelines that apply to these functions
Provides quality client support in all assigned areas; responds to technical and/or non-routine questions from bank employees, clients, or vendors regarding assigned area; ensures prompt problem resolution.
Interfaces with other departments, regions, vendors, agencies, etc. to resolve client service issues.
Maintains awareness and comprehension of all new products and services as well as changes to existing products and services while also staying abreast with industry best practices in regard to all functions.
Participate in all applicable committees as assigned as a member and/or participant to insure knowledge relative to these activities is communicated to all levels of management.
Serves as point person for all internal and external audits conducted in connection with these activities
Whenever necessary, provide needed support for all disaster recovery plans and related activities
Possess through knowledge of loan documentation and the requirements to perfect security interests in essentially all approved collateral types in all states in which the bank lends.
Ensures all underwriting, documentation and loan servicing is completed by the most effective and efficient means possible by leveraging advancements in loan origination and servicing platforms.
Works closely with delivery platform liaisons and IT liaisons to insure all software is performing as expected.
Insures loan documentation preparation team performs at a high level.
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of a team of associates, carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding associates and enforcing policy and procedure; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in business management, real estate management, accounting, or finance (advanced degree or other relevant certifications preferred but not required).
10+ years related work experience in banking and/or financial services in commercial credit and CRE underwriting capacity with 3+ years in a management capacity required. Prior experience with loan documentation preferred.
An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered.
Thorough knowledge of C&I and OOCRE commercial and community banking activities; including but not limited to balance sheet, income statement and cash flow analysis and projections, personal/guarantor financial analysis, project finance cash flow analysis, business, industry and owner/guarantor/management risk assessments, collateral analysis, appraisal review, loan structuring and documentation, problem loan strategies and legal issues.
Thorough knowledge of commercial real estate lending activities and requirements including project cost and NOI analysis, rent roll analysis, credit tenant assessments, personal and global cash flow analysis, asset class, demographic and geographic reviews, appropriate credit structuring and real property and appraisal reviews.
Demonstrates a high understanding of credit scoring, including determining factors, changing parameters, and impact on the overall corporate goals; makes recommendations regarding the adjustment of any scoring parameters. Solid experience working with Windows based computer programs and Microsoft suited of products (Word, PowerPoint and Excel); Familiarity with the Bank’s internal applications helpful
