Job Description & Synthesis
Our client, a leading financial technology firm, is seeking a Compliance Manager for Banking Services to guide the company as it exponentially grows its banking services offerings. This role you will work directly with the business and broader Legal and Compliance team to help the small business group bring new financial services offerings to market. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience developing an effective compliance framework and controls through the life cycle of banking services offerings (e.g., product, marketing, sales, risk operations, partner management, complaint handling, litigation, etc.).
Subject matter expert (SME) for banking services compliance - Partnering closely on all aspects of the business including product development, marketing, Customer Success, operations, and risk management with a focus on new offerings. The scope could also include onboarding and managing compliance relationships with bank partners and service providers.
Aid in the development of business operations policies and ensure implementation of compliance processes with the operations team, as well as other functional and business units.
Ensure complaint themes are being addressed and remedied within the business.
Develop and conduct staff compliance training.
Heavily contribute to third-party, government, and internal audits and inquiries.
Ensure oversight of 3rd party vendor management as well as partner bank obligations.
Work with Product Attorneys and Corporate Affairs to help interpret and implement changes in the regulatory environment. This will often involve work with internal teams as well as outside counsel.

Bachelor’s Degree with 7-10 years professional experience in an in-house legal or compliance department preferred.
CRCM or other professional certifications preferred.
Deep subject matter knowledge of financial services state and federal banking regulations, including but not limited Reg E, FCRA, ECOA, TISA/Reg DD, TILA/Reg Z, CCPA, GLBA/Privacy, Fair Lending, UDAAP, RESPA, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, SAFE Act, SCRA, FDCPA, AML/BSA, OFAC and 3rd party vendor management.
Ability to understand laws/regulations and effectively communicate the requirements to business teams.
Proven ability to apply regulatory knowledge to the practical design and application of process and procedures.
Creative thinker, able to support innovation while managing risk.
Proven experience working with cross-functional teams to implement effective compliance controls and programs, and support innovation while managing risk.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills. Ability to communicate regulatory compliance issues to senior management. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to effectively frame issues to drive strategic thinking and execution.
Experience interacting with U.S. regulators, such as OCC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, CFPB, New York DFS, or California DFPI a plus
