Are you experienced developing new bioinformatics tools, workflows, and pipelines?
  
This Cambridge based biotech have built a microbiome profiling platform, that supports drug discovery across a range of disease areas, including Oncology and IBD. You’ll join a well-established team tasked with developing precision microbiome medicines to improve patient outcomes.
  
We are now seeking an experienced bioinformatics engineer with expertise in designing and developing data analysis tools and workflows for the company’s needs. The successful candidate will be involved in the technical development of all aspects of the company’s analysis platform: developing tools, building and running pipelines, automation and scaling, and data management.
  
  
Key responsibilities will be to:
  

• Design and develop bioinformatics analysis tools and workflows
• Implement production pipelines in a managed compute environment
• Optimise and streamline production pipelines and processes to meet industry standards
• Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies as appropriate to improve and extend our platform capabilities
• Collaborate in multi-disciplinary projects to ensure informatics provision for therapeutic discovery and development

  
Candidate specification:
  

• PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
• Experience working with genomic data
• Strong understanding of software engineering principals (networking, security, scalability)
• Experience working on the cloud – ideally AWS
• Hands on experience writing production level software, in Python
• Experience working with workflow management systems eg Nextflow or Cromwell
• Linux experience
• Any experience working with microbiome or metagenomic data would be highly advantageous
