Role Overview
Supporting project teams during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
Reviewing HV engineering designs, including substation layouts, electromechanical drawings, C&P, MV cable layouts, and interfaces with civil and control engineering.
Performing calculations related to HV installations, earthing grids, insulation coordination, short circuits, bus bar sizing, and cable sizing for HV/MV/LV systems.
Reviewing designs from manufacturers of HV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, protection equipment, and relays.
Preparing design deliverables for HV substations.
Working with the Head of HV Engineering to implement and monitor the HV Engineering Development Strategy in the EMEA region.
Coordinating HV engineering procedures with other departments and teams.
Collaborating with the Tender & Contracting Team and Grid Connection Managers to issue EOIs for EPC/ICP tenders.
Conducting risk and hazard analyses across projects in the EMEA region.
Optimizing interconnection solutions to manage costs, timelines, quality, and risks.
Gathering and analyzing lessons learned, local regulations, and best practices to update company standards across regions.
Preparing progress reports on HV engineering activities for internal stakeholders, contractors, and manufacturers.
Attending site visits, FAT, and SAT as required.
Candidate Profile Knowledge / Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related qualification.
Experience in EHV/HV/LV system design or management.
Knowledge of MV/HV equipment, including transformers, switchgear, protections, and underground/overhead lines.
Extensive field experience in MV/HV equipment installation.
Familiarity with commissioning tests for renewable energy installations.
Experience in HV substations and control systems for renewable projects.
Understanding of reactive power compensation and detailed electrical system design using software like Cymcap.
Knowledge of PV systems, including inverters, transformers, and cabling.
Understanding of electrical protections, earthing design, and storage systems for renewable applications.
Skills and Qualifications
Degree or Master's in Electrical or Power Engineering.
5+ years of experience in substation design.
Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
International project experience.
Strong interest in renewable energy.
Proactive, adaptable, and skilled at prioritizing workload.
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to foster a positive team culture.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
