About the Role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Geotechnical Engineer – Core Logger to join Rio Tinto’s Geotechnical Data Acquisition Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic mining environment, contributing to the collection, analysis, and communication of high-quality geotechnical data for use in critical modelling and design work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and detailed geotechnical core logging support
• Analyse, validate, and interpret geotechnical datasets from field programs
• Ensure data collection, validation, and televiewer picking aligns with RTIO standards and procedures
• Support program planning and drilling execution
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Resource Development and Operations, to prioritise drilling and data acquisition

What You'll Bring

• Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Geology (preferred)
• Knowledge and experience in geotechnical core logging methodology
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• A proactive attitude toward safety and continuous improvement
• Previous experience in the resources industry is desirable
• Exposure to Pilbara geology and iron ore operations advantageous, but not essential
• A valid WA Manual “C Class” Driver’s License (minimum requirement)
• Background in oil & gas or civil engineering will be considered
