As the Hotel Operations Manager, you will work closely with all Heads of Department to develop a deep understanding of the full hotel operation. You’ll also be personally mentored by the General Manager, gaining valuable insight into strategic hotel leadership and decision-making. This is a hands-on, floor-based role designed to prepare you for future leadership and a pathway toward hotel management.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Support hotel departments in the absence of their HOD, stepping in where needed to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Provide visible and proactive management presence during key service times to support teams and ensure operational excellence.
- Build strong working relationships with all department leaders to drive service delivery and team alignment.
- Act as the hotel’s primary leader in the absence of the General Manager, maintaining consistency and high standards across all areas.
- Be mentored by the General Manager to gain exposure to broader hotel strategy, leadership development, and business performance.
- Assist with daily operational meetings, contributing to strategic discussions and action planning.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments and help implement improvement initiatives.
- Help ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety, and other regulatory requirements across all areas.
- Participate in training, and performance management processes to support a positive staff culture.
- Assist in reviewing guest feedback and implementing service improvement plans.
- Liaise with external suppliers, contractors, and service providers as needed.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing departmental insights and operational feedback.
- Help develop and maintain hotel SOPs to ensure consistency across departments.
- Any additional tasks reasonably requested by the General Manager or Vice President of Operations.
Preferred Skills & Experience: - 3–5 years of experience in a Head of Department role within a hotel (any department – we’ll teach you the rest).
- A collaborative, solution-focused approach with strong leadership skills.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a genuine interest in understanding how all areas of hotel operations work.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and influence teams.
- Comfortable working across departments and occasionally outside regular hours to support the team.
