High Voltage Technician / Protection Engineer

Pearl Recruitment is partnering with a well-established engineering and automation specialist to recruit two High Voltage Technicians / Protection Engineers for work across BHP sites in Western Australia.
 
These positions are available for an immediate start and are expected to run for approximately 6-12 months. Depending on BHP's project requirements, roster options may include 2:2, 7:7 or 8:6.
 
The positions could suit experienced HV Technicians or Electricians with some protection experience who are looking to further develop their skills. You do not need to be senior or extensively experienced in protection; however, some practical exposure is required.
 
Our Client
Our client is an Australian engineering and automation contractor delivering electrical, instrumentation, mechanical and commissioning services across the mining, minerals processing and heavy industrial sectors.
 
What will this position involve?
Working across BHP sites, you will support a range of high-voltage testing and protection activities, including:

• Navigating and completing basic testing of protection relays
• Testing transformers and associated HV equipment
• Completing relevant testing and project documentation
• Working in accordance with site and project procedures

What do you need to be successful?
To be considered, you will require:

• Current unrestricted WA A Grade Electrical Licence
• Previous high-voltage electrical experience
• Some experience navigating or testing protection relays
• Previous exposure to transformer testing
• Ability to meet BHP site-entry requirements
• Availability to commence immediately or at short notice
