Pearl Recruitment has partnered with a well-established engineering consultancy servicing the mining and resources sector. Due to a strong pipeline of upcoming work, they are currently seeking experienced Mechanical and Structural Designers at Senior, Lead and Principal level to join their Perth CBD-based team.

These roles will initially support an upcoming gold project, so previous experience working on gold or similar mineral processing projects is essential. Rates are competitive and negotiable depending on experience and level.

The Role: Depending on your experience and area of expertise, you will be responsible for completing mechanical or structural design work across major mining and mineral processing projects.
Your responsibilities may include:

• Producing detailed 3D models, layouts and design documentation
• Completing mechanical or structural design work for mineral processing plants and bulk materials handling infrastructure
• Designing conveyor systems, feeders, rockbreakers, isolation gates and associated plant equipment
• Preparing structural steelwork, platforms, access structures, supports and other mining infrastructure designs
• Working with AutoCAD, MicroStation 3D, Tekla Structures or similar design software
• Interpreting engineering drawings, project specifications and technical requirements
• Coordinating with engineers, project teams and other design disciplines
• Reviewing drawings and models to ensure accuracy, constructability and compliance
• Supporting, mentoring or leading designers depending on the seniority of the position
• Assisting with design scheduling, workload allocation and project delivery

 
About You: To be considered, you will ideally possess:

• A relevant qualification in Mechanical Design, Structural Design, Drafting or a related discipline
• At least five years of mechanical or structural design experience within mining, resources or heavy industry
• Previous experience working on gold, mineral processing or similar resources projects
• Strong proficiency using AutoCAD, MicroStation 3D, Tekla Structures or comparable software
• Experience designing mineral processing plants, bulk materials handling systems or associated mining infrastructure
• Strong technical drawing, modelling and detailing capabilities
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and documentation skills
• The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams
• For Lead and Principal-level positions, previous experience managing design teams, coordinating workloads, reviewing design deliverables and mentoring designers is essential.
