Our client is a leading international supplier of heavy machinery and equipment. Due to increased business growth, they are currently seeking an experienced Category Specialist to join their team and play a key role in ensuring the business receives the highest level of value from its transport and logistics suppliers.
Category Specialist (Transport, Logistics & Procurement)
Perth Airport Location
$130,000 - $140,000 + Superannuation
Monday to Friday, Flexible start times
Permanent, full-time opportunity
What will this position entail?
You will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, leading contract negotiations, and managing all transport and logistics contracts end-to-end to ensure value, compliance, and strong commercial outcomes.
Key duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Keep up to date with market and supplier trends.
- Plan and prepare for upcoming contracts and procurement needs.
- Work with stakeholders to develop procurement strategies and contract requirements.
- Manage contracts from start to finish and ensure they remain compliant and effective.
- Build strong relationships with transport and logistics suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing and contract terms to get the best commercial outcomes.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues quickly.
- Make sure all purchases follow agreed contract terms.
- Provide procurement and contract advice to internal stakeholders.
- Review contract changes and recommend the best course of action.
Essential Skills and Experience? - A tertiary qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Category Management or a related discipline (highly regarded but not essential).
- Minimum 4 years of experience within a similar advanced procurement and/or category management position.
- Minimum 4 years of experience within Transport & Logistics or a comparable industry.
- Demonstrated capability in overseeing, developing and managing complex or high-risk contracts within a large or fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of contract management and negotiation processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to challenges and communicate professionally with a wide range of stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
- Good computer literacy with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP Systems (previous SAP experience highly advantageous).
