Workplace Interior Designer | Wiltshire

This is a great role for a Workplace Interior Designer who wants to be involved in much more than producing designs behind the scenes.

Joining a growing commercial workplace design and fit out business, you’ll become part of an established design team working across a range of office projects. It’s a hands on role combining creative design, space planning, pitches and client presentations, with plenty of opportunity to take ownership of your work.

The business is continuing to grow and this hire is an important addition to the team. They need a designer who can bring strong creative ideas to the table, but equally understands that successful workplace design needs to work commercially and practically.

The Role:

You’ll work closely with the wider design and project teams to develop workplace schemes from the early stages, translating client requirements into creative, considered and buildable solutions.

Depending on the project, you’ll be involved in:

• Developing creative concepts for commercial workplace projects
• Space planning and exploring different ways to maximise a space
• Producing clear and engaging design presentations
• Supporting and contributing to pitches and competitive tenders
• Presenting concepts and design thinking directly to clients
• Developing designs in response to client feedback
• Working alongside the wider team to ensure schemes are practical and achievable
• Considering budget, value and buildability throughout the design process
• Taking ownership of design decisions and confidently explaining the thinking behind them

This isn’t a purely technical or CAD focused position. Client interaction is an important part of the role, so you’ll need to be comfortable talking through your ideas, answering questions and adapting your approach where needed.

About You:

You’ll already have experience designing commercial workplace interiors and a portfolio that demonstrates more than strong visuals alone.

You should be able to show how you’ve approached space planning, solved problems and developed concepts around a client brief, as well as explain the decisions and compromises that sit behind the finished design.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Commercial workplace design and fit out experience
• Strong creative and conceptual design ability
• Confident space planning skills
• Experience contributing to pitches and presentations
• Confidence communicating directly with clients
• An understanding of budgets and the commercial considerations behind a design
• The ability to balance creativity with practicality and buildability
• A collaborative approach and willingness to take responsibility for your work

You don’t need to be the finished article, but you do need to be comfortable taking ownership and working directly with clients rather than relying on more senior designers to lead those conversations for you.
