About the client:
Our client is a well-established, award-winning construction company delivering commercial and residential projects across Central and North Queensland. With a strong reputation for delivering government, education, healthcare, and high-end residential projects, they are known for their hands-on approach and commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
With a strong pipeline of projects ahead, they are now seeking an HSEQ Advisor to join their growing site-based team in Cairns.
Your first project will be a three-story multi-unit housing development, expected to run for 12–18 months. You will have support from an HSEQ Coordinator, providing guidance when needed, while working closely with site teams, management, and external stakeholders.
About the role:
As an HSEQ Advisor, you will be responsible for driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices. You will work closely with site teams, management, and external stakeholders to foster a proactive approach to health, safety, environment, and quality standards.
*On site construction experience is essential.
- Implement and manage an in house management system, ensuring compliance with safety, environment, and quality plans.
- Manage subcontractors, including SWMS reviews, ongoing HSEQ management on-site, and coordinating site inductions.
- Conduct site inspections, task observations, and HSEQ audits, collecting and analyzing data on injuries, hazards, incidents, and near misses.
- Liaise with project personnel and subcontractors to discuss issues, incidents, corrective actions, and legislative changes.
- Assist in injury management and draft/review HSEQ documents, including risk assessments, procedures, and forms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and HammerTech (desirable), with excellent communication and reporting skills.
What you’ll need to bring to the table: - Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the Commercial Construction Industry.
- Tertiary qualification (Cert IV WHS) and strong knowledge of current legislation, acts, and regulations.
- Experience with Queensland Government Jobs preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, and writing skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, be self-motivated, and well-organized.
