We’re partnering with a well-established, multi-disciplinary consulting engineering firm to appoint an Intermediate to Senior Civil Engineer. The role is based in Nelson or Wānaka and will focus on delivering a range of civil and infrastructure projects across the South Island and lower North Island.
This opportunity will suit an engineer who enjoys owning their work, dealing directly with clients, and delivering high-quality civil design solutions across a diverse project base, backed by an experienced and collaborative team.
About the role
The successful candidate will be involved in delivering civil engineering projects from concept through to construction, with responsibility aligned to their experience. Project types include infrastructure, 3-waters, commercial, and land development.
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering civil engineering designs and documentation to the relevant standards
Undertaking independent analysis and detailed design using Civil 3D
Stormwater modelling and flood risk assessments
Managing packages of work, including programme and fee inputs
Working directly with clients, councils, and project stakeholders
Construction monitoring and technical support during construction
About you
Our client is seeking an engineer who brings both technical capability and practical judgement, and who is comfortable operating with autonomy.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
5–10 years’ New Zealand civil engineering consultancy experience
A recognised degree in Civil Engineering (BE or BEngTech)
Proficient using Civil 3D for design and drawing production
Stormwater modelling experience (desirable)
Proven experience across council infrastructure, commercial / urban, and/or land development projects
Confidence dealing directly with clients and managing project delivery at a package level
A proactive, collaborative approach with clear communication skills
This role sits within an experienced and collaborative civil team, with mentoring available for engineers working toward CPEng registration.
