On behalf of our client, a well-regarded Wellington-based civil engineering consultancy, we’re seeking an Intermediate Civil Design Engineer to join their growing team. 
 
This role is ideal for an engineer who has built a solid technical foundation and is ready to take more ownership of design packages, contribute confidently to projects, and continue developing toward senior-level responsibility. You’ll work across a diverse range of land development and civil infrastructure projects, gaining exposure from concept design through to construction. 
Key Responsibilities 

• Civil design for land development and infrastructure projects
  • Stormwater, wastewater, water supply, earthworks, and roading design
  • Preparation of design drawings, calculations, and technical documentation 
  • Use of Civil 3D to deliver coordinated, buildable designs 
  • Supporting senior engineers with project delivery and client interaction 
  • Involvement in contract management and construction monitoring 
  • Coordination with internal teams, councils, and external stakeholders 

About You 

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Typically 3–6 years’ experience in a civil design consultancy environment in New Zealand
  • Strong Civil 3D skills 
  • Solid understanding of civil engineering design principles, methods, and materials 
  • Working knowledge of contract management and construction monitoring 
  • Familiar with NZ design standards and local authority requirements 
  • Keen to develop technically and professionally toward senior-level engineering
