Position: Senior Guardian
Start: ASAP
Likely Duration: up to 16 weeks
Salary: $80 per hour (including casual loading) plus superannuation
Location: NSW (Wollongong preferred)
  
Overview

Lead, collaborate, and advocate to improve lives. Deliver high-level guardianship services for people with disabilities across diverse NSW communities.
  
Primary Purpose of the Position

Deliver quality guardianship services to our Client’s customers, with the aim of achieving the best possible outcomes for people with disabilities, consistent with the Principles of the Guardianship Act and the Public Guardian’s Standards through individual and systemic advocacy. Allied health professionals are high regarded.
  
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement decision making plans, maintain accurate customer records, undertake individual and systemic advocacy to achieve positive outcomes for our customers.
• Prepare accurate reports, submissions and recommendations to senior officers and the organisation on issues within delegated authority.
• Prepare well-reasoned reports to the Guardianship Division of the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) on relevant matters and attending hearings where required.
• Make decisions in line with policies, within the Senior Guardian delegation level and authority from the Guardianship Division, to best serve the interests of our customers.
• Supervise and assist Guardians and support staff, including providing support, advice and direction in relation to complex cases and customer situations.
• Review and approve reports of Guardians.
• Collaborate with a range of professionals, staff, families, carers and other relevant persons on complex or contentious matters.
• Conduct visits to people represented by the organisation in line with the Guardianship Standards.
• Develop knowledge and experience of local services and key support infrastructure in relation to guardianship matters.

Desirable Criteria

• Ability to travel throughout NSW

Essential Criteria

• Degree in social, health, behavioural sciences or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• Reference checks
• National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
• Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
• Rights to Work in Australia
