Position: Senior Policy officer

Duration: 6 month contract
Salary: $72.00 per hour + superannuation

Primary Purpose of the Position
The Senior Policy Officer manages and coordinates projects to develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to health assessment, drug and alcohol screening, and pathology provider relationship management across the 15 NSW Health Professional Councils.
  
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

• Research, analyse and review complex policy issues related to health assessment, drug and alcohol screening of health practitioners, identifying emerging issues, developing evidence-based recommendations.
• Partner with drug and alcohol experts, pathology providers, other subject matter experts and relevant stakeholders to provide expert policy advice to inform the development of a suite of drug and alcohol screening policies.
• Lead the development of the suite of drug and alcohol screening policies in line with the HPCA and Councils Policy Framework.
• Lead the development of policy and procedure to ensure the adequate health assessor resourcing and pathology provider contribution for regulation of health practitioner with impairment.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating their engagement in, and contribution to the project deliverables.
• Develop an implementation plan for the public release of the new suite of drug and alcohol screening policies, with consideration given to stakeholder management, communication activities, risk management, change management principles and evaluation activities.
• Mentor and guide the project officer and other support staff, ensuring compliance with governance and quality requirements including the HPCA Project Management Framework and the HPCA and Councils Policy Framework, to successfully deliver the project.
• Prepare correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs, that are informative and aligned with agency requirements, to respond to HPCA and Council requests.
• Coordinate and oversee completion of project management documentation including project plans, terms of reference, communications and change management approach, project status reports, and project closure documents.
